Synopsis

Bethnal Green, East London, 1991. John Sissons is out of work, out of friends and seemingly out of luck. Then an unexpected opportunity arrives in the form of a job at a local door factory. It may not seem like much, but for John, it is a chance to begin again.

Yet as he settles into his new surroundings, John begins to realise that the job was never offered to him by accident. His past is catching up with him, and the secrets surrounding the factory threaten to drag him back into a world he has spent years trying to escape.

John knows what it means to run. He has spent a lifetime doing exactly that. But when his sister disappears and the people behind his past begin closing in, running is no longer an option.

This time, John will have to stand and fight. And when the people who are coming for him realise just how far he is prepared to go to protect his family, the past may prove more dangerous than ever.

Narration Notes

His performance gives John a strong sense of determination beneath the uncertainty, allowing the character's emotional journey to develop naturally as his past comes back into focus.

The narration builds tension through the story's movement from everyday hardship into a darker world of crime, family danger and unfinished business. Karl's character-driven delivery keeps the focus on John as he is forced to confront the life he has spent years trying to leave behind.
