Synopsis

November 1967. As British imperial rule comes to an abrupt end in Aden, Yemen, Dara and Silloo Barucha's peaceful life is shattered by the violence of revolution. A young Parsi family suddenly finds itself caught in the turmoil, with their family business seized and their lives placed under the control of the new regime.

Dara is taken away as a political prisoner, while Silloo is placed under house arrest with their three young children and mother-in-law. Separated from one another and facing an uncertain future, the couple must endure their own harrowing struggles while holding on to the hope that they will be reunited.

Based on a true story, Of Mud and Honey captures the brutality of a country torn apart by the struggle for independence while revealing the resilience of ordinary people. Amid fear, separation and uncertainty, love, faith and acts of kindness offer a glimmer of hope — and the possibility of survival.
